It offers a one-of-a-kind, quality education to an economically and racially diverse group of students.

What is unique about John Rex Charter School?

Extended Day Childcare: A fee-based childcare program is offered in order to accommodate working parents who require childcare before and after school hours. To assist working parents, childcare is provided beginning as early as 7 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Early Dismissal Day: Wednesdays are designated as “Early Dismissal Day” for students to allow for teacher planning and collaboration. On this day, elementary school students are dismissed at 2 p.m. and middle school students are released at 1:45 p.m. For the balance of the students’ instructional school day, parents may enroll their child in extended enrichment learning opportunities sponsored by the YMCA or may take them home at that time.

What is the school's calendar?

To the extent possible, JRCS attempts to align our school calendars with the OKCPS district extended learning calendar.

Nevertheless, the total number of instructional days each school year will be augmented to provide extended instructional time. Therefore, not every vacation or break will exactly mirror the OKCPS calendar.

John Rex Charter School submitted a letter to the State Department of Education declaring that the school calendar will be based on hours of instruction – not days of instruction per year. This allows for additional flexibility in the event of inclement weather or other delays.
