John Rex’s Board of Directors and administration are committed to implementing feedback from families and other members of the community. The Board has retained a third-party consulting firm based in Oklahoma City, Schnake Turnbo Frank, to help with the strategic planning process. The use of an outside firm ensures confidentiality and provides an opportunity for broad, open feedback.

Survey

Completing the survey is the first step in the strategic planning process. You can expect to receive an individual link from Survey Monkey via email on April 20. The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. All feedback will remain confidential, and we highly encourage you to participate and submit your responses no later than Tuesday, May 31.

If you prefer to receive the survey in Spanish, contact Priscilla Rojas at Projas@johnrexschool.org as soon as possible.

Focus Groups

Following the completion of the survey, Schnake Turnbo Frank will begin facilitating focus groups of 15 people or less. Each session will last no more than an hour. This is an opportunity to provide additional feedback and to cover any topics not mentioned in the survey. The feedback we will obtain through the focus groups is key, and we request all participants agree to maintain strict confidentiality regarding the topics covered and the attendees in the focus groups.

The last round of focus groups will be held via Zoom. The following sign-up options are for any parent and/or guardian of a John Rex student grades PreK – 8th:

  • Wednesday, May 18, at 10:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday, May 18, at 6:00 p.m.

One-On-One Interviews

For the final step in gathering information, Schnake Turnbo Frank will conduct one-on-one interviews with John Rex families. Due to timing and limited resources, only a few families will be invited to participate in this step.

Interviews will last 30 minutes or less, focusing on the individual’s view of John Rex’s current organizational structure, strategy and vision for the school. Individual interviews will be scheduled beginning the week of April 18 and will continue through May. Final interviews will take place the week of May 23.

Strategic Planning Process Next Steps

Planning Session

During the next phase of the strategic planning process, Schnake Turnbo Frank will present the assessment findings and facilitate a planning session to develop the strategic plan with the Board of Directors, John Rex leadership, teacher representatives, PTA leadership and other John Rex stakeholders. An agenda with more details will be posted to the website in coming weeks, and we welcome anyone who would like to attend as an observer.

Town Hall Meeting

We will also schedule a town hall meeting for our John Rex community at the start of the 2022-2023 school year to share more information, answer questions and provide opportunities to get involved as we implement the strategic plan.

Details regarding the timing and location for the town hall will be announced in coming months, in addition to more information about the overall findings from the survey, focus groups and interviews.
