John Rex Charter School (JRCS) has named Charmaine Johnson as the new principal of John Rex Middle School in downtown OKC. As an experienced education professional, Johnson will oversee the growth and learning of students in grades five through eight and support the school’s robust learning curriculum. 

Johnson previously worked as a principal for Oklahoma City Public Schools, where she managed daily operations, development and implementation for 600 students and more than 70 staff members. In her new role, Johnson will use her more than 39 years of experience to improve the educational experiences and needs of the students and staff. 

“John Rex has an established culture of excellence and student-focused learning,” Johnson said. “I look forward to seeing how we can continue to grow during the 2023-24 school year and helping more students reach their full potential,” 

John Rex Superintendent Patrick Duffy said Johnson’s passion for serving students and commitment to lifelong learning make her a great addition to the team. 

“Our staff and students will benefit from Charmaine’s wealth of educational experience,” Duffy said. “We look forward to seeing the positive impact she will have on our school and the exciting future that lies ahead.”
